Raised toilet seats are important to the elderly. Buying a unit largely depends on what a healthcare provider has instructed. Toilet seats have different forms and different purposes. Buyers, therefore, need to check with their doctors before going anywhere to shop for one.

Being able to identify the right seat gives an elderly convenience and comfort. It will never be so hard to find a store with the item specified by the doctor for there are tons in the city having such. Installing this, however, is a pretty tricky process but no one is required to hire a professional installer to do it. The purchase normally comes with easy-to-understand instructions and if carefully followed, the project will be finished up as expected. For those installing a bubble-type raised seat, here is how it is done easily.

First is to have the seat and the toilet cover lifted. This must be done for both seat and lid to be positioned appropriately upright. It is quite impossible to carry on with the process having this undone for it is important to open the bowl later.

The seat must then be positioned through the tall end found at the bowl's rear and inner ring. In installing the bowl, it is necessary for the elevated seat to be pushed hard down until it gets securely in place. But inasmuch as this is not designed for permanent use, it is very important to check with the doctor each once in a while for this likely compromises safety of users using it beyond recommended date.

Raised toilet seats that have adjustable knobs will be harder to install. But then again, there is no need to pay for an installer for this to be done right. The same thing will be done during the process, though. The lid and seat must be lifted for the same reason.

Adjustments are to be made only by the time the cover has been raised. Once finished, the adjustment knob has to be turned in counterclockwise direction for the adjustment bracket to loosen. Doing this makes the seat much easier to fit with the bowl.

This needs to be continuously done until it completely fits. After then, the raised toilet has to placed on bowl rim while the same time having the rear flanges under the edge hooked. It is essential to be sure the knob is securely fixed in the front end and elevated unit is sitting flat on the bowl rim.

Having this secured on the rim, this must be pushed hard using the hands for the new seat to be placed at the center. Adjustment knob must then be turned in the opposite direction, clockwise, for it to tighten. One should continue turning until he is able to feel resistance of the knob.

And if the topmost end of raised toilet seats eventually hit the cover, these need to be removed immediately. Specific instructions of installation and adjustments have been identified by the American Red Cross for safety. But if installation is indeed burdensome, it is a lot wiser to call for help from a pro.
