Exercise is an activity that people engage in for leisure but may be converted into some kind of sport. Aerobic started long ago in Greece, for a fact the term is coined from Greek words, which translate to excising while naked in English. Gymnastics in Delaware entails performance of systematized exercises without or with the aid of bars, dumbbells, rings or other apparatuses. Depending on the intended purpose it can be a competitive sport or leisure activity. The main goal is to increase physical conditioning, agility, coordination or strength.

Bodily development in ancient Greeks was achieved through a sequence of exercises comprising of wrestling, weight lifting, swimming, jumping, throwing, and running. Physical fitness was valued for various reasons including preparation of armies for warfare. It was important that soldiers should be able to defend themselves. With time people started practicing for entertainment.

Aerobics is included amongst Olympic Games and athletes are both men and women. Distinct sports such as wrestling, track and field events, and boxing developed from aerobics. Tumble and vault are the only games in the current world, which were initial constituent of the early Greece aerobics. Tumbling developed in separate forms in different cultures with no any kind of outside influence.

China and Egypt had different forms of acrobatics that do not relate to those of Greece, though they have some similarities. Tumbling was performed by traveling troops of dancers, jugglers, and thespians. Various forms of acrobatics and tumbling were finally incorporated into circus. Before gymnastics were performed on international level they were practiced by various circus groups and individuals.

A branch of aerobics called floor exercise was made and coached for health purposes of the trainees. Floor exercising involves practicing with no hand gears such as dumbbells, wands, or clubs. This category of gymnastic was primarily not created for competition purposes but has gradually changed into what most people call floor gymnastic. Floor exercise nowadays is an Olympic event since its invention in 1932.

Vaulting, pommel horse, parallel rings horizontal bar, and rings were the games included in the first international competition in the 18s. Male calisthenics were first included on the Olympics schedule in the 18s. Female aerobics began a bit late in the 19s. Men and women took part in similar games with the exclusion of balance beam, which was entirely women event.

Calisthenics competition is held at different levels ranging from national, school, college, university, club to international stage. Current aerobics comprises of 6 different categories for male competitors and 4 categories for female contestants. Men categories emphasize on flexibility and strength of the upper part of the body of the athlete together with aerobics. Women categories comprise of uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise, and vaulting horse.

International events have different age brackets. An athlete can be categorized as a junior or senior according to their age. Junior category includes athletes below the age of sixteen years while senior group comprises of people above sixteen years. Most gymnasts begin training at young ages and reach the peak in early twenties or late teens. Late teens refer to the age bracket between fifteen years to nineteen.
