With this year's Zombie run Dallas residents are in for a fun filled day of excitement and adventure. If you are not familiar with these adrenalin pumping events, but like to have fun with friends or family members, this could be for you. The races are against the undead or zombies, with a few challenges and obstacles to complete while you make your way through the city. Most races are about 5km long, and should be completed within 3 hours.

The idea of the event is to race against the undead and get the cure that has been found against the epidemic. The goal is to get this cure through the different challenges. At each task, racers will be able to unlock weapons that can be used against the zombies. Participants need to register for the event online, as registration on the day will not be permitted.

The participants are given flag belts, similar to the ones used in flag football. Flags are used to represent each contestant's health bar. The job of the zombies is to take as many flags as possible. Once all your flags have been taken, you will be considered as being "infected". If you want to stay alive for longer, you may want to keep an eye open for some hidden health flags.

In the beginning of the race, all participants get clues that will lead them to the challenges around the city. These can be in the form of short workouts or trivia questions. Each activity forces the participant to use their thinking skills as well as strength, all while outrunning the zombies who are in hot pursuit. When running this exciting race, it is important to remember that the "undead" are everywhere, so look out for them, even at the various check points.

Participants can also create their own path in order complete the different challenges before going back to the Survival Headquarters. At the end of the race, contestants that haven't been infected by the "undead" go to a post-apocalyptic party, which is usually tons of fun. The participants who got caught and infected during the race dress themselves like zombies and join the party, where they compete in a series of humorous activities as well as dance contests.

Contestants must be at least 15 years old to fully participate in the race. Anyone that is younger may walk during the race, and children younger than 7 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The great thing about this particular event is that it will take place even if it's raining and muddy, so be prepared.

Upon registration, all participants must bring a signed waiver and ID photo. The undead are requested to show up in their costumes. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes, but must keep in mind that the outfit should be comfortable enough to run in.

All Zombie run Dallas participants are given some treats for their participations, entrance to the after party is included, as is a t-shirt and a chance to win a prize. The undead are not really allowed to get physical with the racers, they need only retrieve the flags and it shouldn't be in a violent way. Remember please, this race is not certified, it's just for the fun.
