If you have any children that are in ballet, a dance recital is a great way for them to show off. Whether your studio presents an elaborate theatrical production or a small in-studio demonstration, parents will appreciate seeing how their child improves from year to year. Make recitals more fun for kids and more entertaining for the audience by creating your recital dances around a fun theme.

It is good to have your kids raise money for their school dance, and it is easy to set up. Door to door cookie sales work very good, and you can dress them up like the girl scouts. Beef sticks are very popular, and you could have them sell them at school. You also could have a flower sale during the week of the dance.

One way that I am able to get the kids to go to the school dance is to get them to participate in a dance-off competition the day of the school dance. Senior males would be the best choice for this. Divide the group of boys into two dancing groups. Have each group prepare a humorous dance routine. Use a Lady Gaga song, and dress them up in meat dresses. Use a ballot and have the students vote for a winner at the assembly on the day of the dance.

My last dance recital had a theme based upon the Iliad, and we had the students dress up as a one eyed giant. One theme we did was one based upon Puss N Boots, where the students dressed up as cats and we gave them swords and boots. It was fun to put on a bible based dance recital, where we had the kids dress up like Noah and his family. Pick any Disney movie and you have a hit on your hand, as the kids can relate to it.

At our last dance recital we picked a theme that went over very well, it was based upon international cultures. These distant lands have great costumes, and you will want to include them in your recital. I like to invite students from Pakistan when I include them in my dance recital. These amazing dance recitals will be a big hit with the parents.

A beauty pageant is an idea that you could use to spice up your school dance. Put it on when it is scheduled to happen. The student body would be the ones to pick from. As the emcee, take the girls from the same group. During the pageant, make them line dance. Have a sing a long, as this is fun for all. Then, to get them do go to the dance, tell them that you will announce the winner at it.

Should you have a child in school, you will want to help the teachers out by suggesting fun things for them to do, like line dancing. Many times, the school dance is full, but on occasion, it is not busy at all. Encourage student participation at your dances. Our dances always run short of money, so I like to have the kids do things that bring in some cash.

Easter is another holiday that is great as a theme. If you choose a Christmas theme, you dress them all up as reindeer. Easter bunnies are a great costume for the kids if you do a dance recital around Easter. It was amazing to see the kids dance to Jimmy Hendricks version of the Star Spangled Banner at our last recital. The easiest way to get this all done is to get our your calendar and plan it around all of the holidays.
